Arnhem and Oosterbek Board Set (Phase 2)

These boards are individually 2' x 2' in size and this set of boards completes a 30 board set filling a 20' x 6' table. These boards finish the set of Arhnem boards seen here. Each board continues the custom blended flock and roads, with some significant additions. The center of the playing area features a hill 4' x 6' in size and 4" high. The hill is bisected by a railroad and features roads around it and over its center. The hill is designed to accommodate several large buildings on its broad crest. The final section of the boards features a large flat area for the city section of Arnhem and is tiled with styrene brick sheets. After showing the customer the original color of the brick work he requested that I change it so it more closely matches the color of the roads. The final photos below show the before and after color of the bricks. (Original color is more orange.) Likewise, the customer requested that the railroad track be aged a bit and the ballast be dulled down to blend in more with the surrounding soil. Both were giving a strong wash and the resulting more muted appearance appears in the lower photos. Finally, the layout features two boards with a broad river. The water effect was designed to achieve a moving look and was accomplished with multiple layers of acrylic and epoxy coatings.
