For this order the customer gave me freedom to consider a variety of options for the selection of trees for these stands. Ultimately Woodland Scenics Palm Tree models were chosen for their appearance and value. Hand construction of trees would have been more costly in terms of time spent and the fine cuts of the palm tree models made these an attractive option that was in scale with the models. However these models were slightly modified in height to bring them a little more into scale, and each tree was lightly dry brushed to reduce the sheen on the trunks and bring a deeper, more balanced color to the foliage.

The hardboard bases are roughly 8cm x 15cm and were finished to match the customers existing desert terrain. The selection of vegetation on these stands was also designed to tie these together with the other desert stands in this order, including the desert hills, barbed wire, scrub, soft sand and rough ground stands.
